We asked some young people just like you about their experience with mental health disorders, and how they cope!
Here's what they had to say:
"I have anxiety disorder, it makes life hard to live, especially when I need to make big life decisions. I shut down and stop functioning quite often, whenever it gets triggered and I’m
scared. Even situations in which it’s only a possibility that something will happen, I find myself having attacks. I cope by trying to stay calm and focus on something physical-
the birds flying by or the wind in the trees. By diverting my attention to something else, I can come to a state where the problem is effecting me less, so I can tackle
it in a good mindset to find a solution."
- Nia Blackwood.
"I suffer from depression. Some days I can wake up and not even remember what it feels like to be motivated or happy even when it comes to simple pleasures in life.
I can have myself thrown into this state by the most innocent and unrelated comments and actions, causing me to take days just to dig myself out of the hole.
To me the most important part is placing value in things other than yourself so even when you feel worthless you can remind yourself that something or someone
out there needs you until you can find it in yourself to accept who you are again."
- Antoine Ryba-Edwards.
