Mental illnesses have become an increasingly large part of teenager’s lives all over the population and with New Zealand having the highest teen suicide rate in the world, it’s something we need to start shining more light on.
The impact poor mental health is having on the young people in our community is more than just a statistic. It’s emotions, experiences and everything that comes with being a confused and pressured teenager. Mental illnesses are now extremely common for young people to suffer from and they should not be treated any differently from something as serious as a physical illness. You can have an influence on your friends, family and peers and cause a change in their lives that might be needed.
